Company Profile

Frascada Projects specialises in the development and manufacture of unique lightweight architectural systems. In 2002 a unique product range called Decolite™ was introduced by the company which has evolved into an industry standard for high quality lightweight decorative finishing products.
Decolite™ is produced in our manufacturing facility in Chamdor Johannesburg for distribution throughout Africa.
Installations are handled in house or by approved sub-contractors depending on location.
The manufacturing facility is geared to handle the fabrication of large scale elements as well as high through put production.
New products ranges are constantly being developed and introduced into the market using various forms of fabrication from CNC cut forms, to soft rubber mould casting, and injection moulded systems.
Our expertise in engineering designs from fast coupling ceilings to replacement of large concrete elements places the company in a unique position to offer solutions to a wide range of architectural challenges.
The company welcomes enquiries where the challenge is to design and manufacture lightweight, structurally sound systems with consistent high quality finishes.

What is Decolite™?

Decolite™ encompasses a group revolutionary decorative moulded systems which are extremely durable and lightweight for the replacement of non structural concrete and GRC elements externally, and high quality finished features internally. The systems allow flexibility in design and may be used in a variety of applications which suit the functional and aesthetic requirements of any project. Decolite™ is not only used in the construction of new buildings, internally and externally but also in the renovation of existing buildings in retail, corporate, hospitality, leisure and residential markets. The product which has evolved from an innovative solution for complicated exterior embellishments, has become a sought after product for interior design solutions.
There are essentially three systems of production, namely:
CNC cutting of high density EPS forms which are encapsulated in a tough polyurea outer casing.
Forming shapes in various pliable moulding materials for low pressure in mould casting.
High pressure injection moulding of forms from precision engineered moulds.
Each system of manufacture has its unique advantages which are suited to the requirements of the end product, from high precision mass production to custom production of unique forms.
Surface finishes range from smooth aggregate to high gloss automotive finishes, and from solid opaque forms to translucent and luminous forms depending on the type of material used and the system of manufacture.

Springtime – Strawberry Time!

Nina Timm

Yes! Spring is finally here and it is wonderful to be woken up by the birds every morning. It is not quite light when I wake up (5 –ish!) so my early morning coffee in the garden will still have to wait for another week or so, but nevertheless it is time to spring clean house, body and soul. Even in the kitchen it is time to pack away the recipes for soups and stews and make way for lovely light and colorful dishes. The summer fruits are starting to make their appearance on the shelves and nothing beats a delicious Berry Smoothie for breakfast or even a batch of Blueberry Scones gets my family to the kitchen very fast. Come lunchtime a Simple Salad becomes something really special with fresh fruit and goat’s cheese.
Strawberries were the first to adorn our shelves and this year they seem bigger, more plump and sweeter than last year. My children could finish a big punnet in no time so if I have a recipe in mind, I always have to mark the strawberries with a big sticker that says: “Do not eat!”

I have made

Breadpudding with Berries    Strawberry Sorbet

Strawberry Coulis

However, although our days are warmer and quite pleasant, nights are still a bit on the chilly side and it is then that my family is still looking for something warm and comforting. This Oatmeal and Almond Strawberry Crumble has the best of both worlds. The strawberries are fresh and tart and the crumble provides rib sticking goodness.

Oatmeal and Almond Strawberry Crumble.

makes 6 individual or 1 big dessert

Ingredients

1 kg fresh strawberries - hulled and halved
3/4 cup sugar
zest of 1 orange
½ cup of orange juice
1 tbsp cornflour or Mazeina

For the crumble
 3/4 cup flour
½ cup of brown sugar
pinch of salt
1 cup oatmeal or oats
125gr almond slivers
125 gr cold butter

Mix the sliced strawberries with the sugar, cornflour, orange zest and orange juice. Place in individual cups or ramekins and make your crumble. Preheat the oven to 180C.
For the crumble mix all the dry ingredients and grate in the cold butter. Mix thoroughly and sprinkle lavishly over the strawberry mixture. Bake for about 40 minutes or until the strawberry mixture is cooked and is bubbling out from underneath the crumble and the crumble is golden brown in color.
Serve with a good drizzle of thick cream or creamy vanilla ice-cream.

Nicky Bears

Nicky Bears are all handmade real fur bears made from old hand-me-down coats and stoles. Instead of giving away or regulating grannies beautiful coat to the bin or second hand shop why not turn it into a family heirloom? Your coat will bring much joy as a treasured gift. The furs are all treated before being cut, relined, and strengthened. The bears are hand stitched with no machines being used in their assembly. The eyes are imported and made from glass and the noses hand stitched. The paws are made from suede or leather in complementing shades.
Bears are made to order and no two bears are alike. Nicky is the only bears artist working with fur in the country. Why don’t you contact Nicky and turn your fur into an heirloom.

Lelieblom Farm presents
Survivor Woman

Saturday, 15 October 2011
19:00
From new, young love, excited and dreamy, to unions, break-ups and survival of love, this show takes the audience on an unexpected emotive ride.
Elizabeth Frandsen and Rika Vermeulen are proud and strong, but not afraid to show vulnerability in this healing production.
How would songs like “Maybe this Time”,“I dreamed a Dream” and “Song of the Old Lovers” come together in an chronological sequence of women in love?
Using well known songs and putting them in a different context, with a very new take on their interpretation, these two women tell a story that every woman (& every man) can relate to.

By including new compositions by their favourite composer, André Strijdom, these women succeed in bringing a new luminosity to an age old story.
Both women, each a maestro on their own, come together as equalsin an interactive way, which makes for interesting and inventive cabaret. No longer does the singer just sing, or the pianist just play. These two women act, sing and play together to tell their story.
After taking the audience tenderly through the ups and downs of love, the show ends with a blazing anthem as tribute to all survivors, whatever their quest might have been.
It will do your heart good.

Oma German Deli

Over the past months I have been selling continental sausages etc. at Piket Bo-Berg Farmers Market, last Saturday of the month, as well as the Funky Fresh Market in Riebeek-West, first Saturday of the month after realising that there was a need for a selected variety of Continental Style sausages&polony at both of these monthly markets.
My products are made by a Swiss-German family butcher/friend in Cape Town and the stock is brought through to Tulbagh the evening before the market – therefore my stock is always fresh!
I currently sell smoked and air-dried sausages which include: Landjaeger, Merguez, Soujouk, Plain & Pepper Salametti, Italian Fennel (also known as Hot Italian).
In addition I also have a range of Teewurst, Mettwurst, Zwiebelmett, Kalbsleberwurst, Zwiebeling as well as Bockwurst, Bauernbratwurst, Weisswurst, Knackwurst, Cooked Ham, Back Bacon, Streaky Bacon, Bierkugel.

At every market we sell freshly grilled Bockwurst& Bratwurst in addition to our Gourmet Sandwiches with a range of fillings and toppings.

Should you require any of my stock,

Please call Angela (Oma) on 082 770 7678 on the Monday before the Market, so that it will be ready for your collection.

I do carry a full list of other products, with basic descriptions, and this is available upon request at the markets
