Pureology

Pureology was created in California in 2001. Salon industry pioneer, Jim Markham revolutionised colour care and launched the first 100% vegan formulas, Zero sulphate and containing Organic Botanical shampoos for colour treated hair.

Pureology is formulated for RADIANT COLOUR with an antifade complex.

The range is uncomplicated for the diagnoses of your specific hair type. There is a product to suit you!

Pureology consists of 3 Categories: Hydrate, Essential Repair and Pure Volume.

Hydrate – For Dry colour-treated hair.
One of my favourites!
 Containing Multi-weight proteins such as Soy, Oats and Wheat
 Organic Botanicals including Rose, Peppermint and Green Tea.

The Hydrate range consists of a Shampoo, Conditioner, Hydracure Masque and a serum called Shine Max.

The peppermint in the conditioner increases the blood supply to the scalp skin and gives you a revitalising cool effect.

Pure Volume – For Fine colour-treated hair

 Containing Volumising Micro-emulsion technology
 Strengthening Multi-weight proteins of Soy, Oats and Wheat
 Organic Botanicals including Lavender, Basil and Frankincense

The Pure Volume range consists of a Shampoo, conditioner and Pure Volume Blow-dry Amplifier (great for styling, setting and curling hair)

Essential Repair – For Distressed colour-treated hair

 Containing repairing micro-emulsion technology, fortifying Soymilk and Biotin.
 Restorative organic botanicals of chamomile and olive oil,

The Essential Repair Range consists of a Shampoo, Conditioner, Split end Correcting treatment, Instant Repair Colour Max – leave in conditioner and a Restorative Masque

With the World changing so rapidly and society becoming more and more aware of Global Warming and taking care of our Environment, watching what we eat and drink, Pureology couldn’t have come at a better time. Being 100% Vegan, containing Zerosulfates, Organic Botanicals and all their marketing material either being printed on or is recycled paper. Not only caring for your hair but also for the environment.

In my Salon we perform a Keratin treatment. This treatment rebuilds the lost keratin in the hair (it is formulated from Moroccan white clay, Amazonian Cocoa and Silk proteins) it repairs the broken keratin-bonds from colour-treated hair and mechanical damage i.e. flat ironing, blow-drying or tonging.

This treatment is maintained by using a homecare regime that contains Zerosulfates and Sodium Chloride (salt) found in most shampoos. We recommend Pureology because of its antifade complex and the fact that it is 100% organic botanical and contains Zerosulfates and sodium chloride.

Pureology is for everyone! Pureology has revolutionised the way my Stylist and I look at the care of your hair, in the salon and at home.

We offer a hot towel treatment at the Wet station where you can experience the aromatic floral sensation that Pureology has to offer as well as the aromatherapy.

Society has taken control in caring for our environment, WHY not do the same with your hair!

The Darling Trust Vision

To keep our people healthy and strong through education and care

To empower people through developing talents and skills

To assist our communities with the challenges of HIV/AIDS

To establish need and to address that need by creating feasible projects or by assisting existing projects through funding or managerial and logistical assistance

To act as a vehicle for funding for the community of Darling and in due course for its neighbouring communities, through informed, researched and managed distribution of funds, and by being transparent and accountable for the funds

To create a blueprint for other small communities

These issues are desperate: poverty, crime, drugs and HIV/AIDS are gaining their hold on this small community. Alcohol is a staple dependence.
The facilities for the community are minimal. Sport fields are under-par. There is no gym. Art and culture play a small part here and the activities at Evita se Perron have enriched the lives of only a few hundred children. Thousands are still untouched and uninterested.

THE DARLING TRUST has to be practical, straightforward and deliver as soon as possible.

The Trust establishes grassroots programmes aimed at direct, personal interaction with the community of Darling. This interaction aims to move away from a culture of handouts and to empower individuals with the skills to help themselves.

How you can help

The success of all nonprofit organisations relies not only on the dedicated people directly associated with the projects but also on the generous members of the public who wish to spread a little kindness to others. Thank you to everyone who makes our work possible.

One of the most important ways people can help us is to spread the word about our work proactive – the more people who know about us, the more people will support us and enable us to continue with and expand our work. So please do talk to your friends about The Darling Trust and ask them to spare a moment to visit our website, read our blog.

Nina's Recipe for the Month

Finally it is here......winter in Cape Town and I am a happy puppy. I just LOVE winter......the rain, the wind howling, the log fires, the warm coats, but most of all I am a comfort- food- kinda -girl. I just adore soups. stews, slow roasting dishes and...and....... So when the weatherman's forecast was rain, I rolled out the veggies for a hearty soup. There are so many recipes for soup out there, but for me this soup is "home cooking" at it's best. My gran and my mom used to cook soup like this and with just a slice of sourdough bread, this is a bumper meal.
Basically you can use any kind of veggies that you have available, but try not to use cabbage, cauliflower or brocolli, because the taste is just too overpowering. But here is what I did. By the way, this was 2 huge pots of soup, I had visitors, but you can freeze the soup in small quantities and have supper ready in no time...

Vegetable Soup

2 x 500gr split peas
1 kg marrow bones
6 large potatoes - grated
2 kg carrots -grated
1 big bunch of leeks -chopped
fresh herbs of your choice - I used soup celery and parsley.
1 small tins tomato paste
6 tomatoes, peeled and chopped.

Soak peas overnight in cold water and rinse the next morning.
Cook peas and marrow bones in lots of water until peas are soft. Do not add salt at this stage, as it will prevent the peas from softening up. Now add all the veggies and slow cook until done and all the marrow has fallen out the bones. Remove the bones and liquidize the soup.(if you prefer a chunkier soup, leave out this last step. Now start seasoning your soup by adding salt, lemon zest. lemon juice, pepper - anything you fancy.Let your taste buds guide you.

A few things to remember:

1. The dried peas burn very quickly so stir often and keep the heat low.
2. If the soup burns at the bottom, pour into a new pot otherwise your whole pot will taste burny.
3. I do not add stock, because the marrow bones provide more than enough flavor.
4. If the idea of the marrow bones freaks you out, use shin or just vegetable stock.

I served the soup with crumbled feta, chopped baby tomatoes and some green peppercorns just for texture and crunch
