Our guesthouse is situated on a pretty little farm in the West Coast region of the Western Cape, halfway between Piketberg and Velddrif, about 180km north of Cape Town. It is nestled in the beautiful valley of Kapteinskloof and is one of the oldest original Homesteads of this area.
In 1988 the playwright Pieter Fourie started to renovate the houses, which date back to 1831. Through his love and passion for old architecture and his dedication to detail he managed to retain the Sandveld character of the homestead, which is both simple, yet charming.

When we, Marc and Kerstin de la Rue, discovered this little Gem back in 2002, it was love at first sight and we have made it our home since then - together with an assortment of four-legged family members.
We do farming on a very small scale, but mostly we enjoy our horses, dogs and other animals and the simple lifestyle this place offers. Tranquillity and peacefulness seem to emanate from the whitewashed walls and permeate the surroundings - qualities which we highly appreciate and which we would like to share with you.
Go for walks, bring your mountain bike, go for a drive off the beaten track, admire the spring flowers, take a swim in our fresh, spring water pool nestled in an orange grove or simply take a good book find a spot under a tree and let time pass you by...

Accommodation is in an original Sandveld cottage with the charm and character of the olden days. Furniture is kept simple and uncluttered so as not to distract from the vernacular architecture of the walls and windows. The smell of thatch as you walk in completes the earthy feel.
The cottage is self-catering and sleeps 2 - 6 people. It is rented out as one unit to ensure the privacy of guests.
There are 3 bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms.
The kitchen features an old Dover stove for cosy winter days, as well as a fridge, microwave and hot plate stove.
All cutlery, crockery, towels and linen as well as firewood are provided.

Please note that there is no TV or radio in the rooms and no cell phone reception.

We have a big family of animals, 5 horses, 5 dogs, 3 cats and a varying number of chickens and ducks. All our animals are very human friendly and used to interacting with people. They are not pets, but family members. We ask you to treat them with the same respect and friendliness that they offer you.
